How Does Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy Treat Chronic Pain?

Posted by Dr. Serge Lanoue on 12 August 2016

In order to have a healthy, well-oiled machine of a body, you need to have healthy cells. And that's not a passive thing -  regular tune-ups for body cells can slow aging, and reduce risks of cell dysfunction or disease.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF therapy) is one treatment method that fine-tunes cells in the body, correcting any imbalances in dysfunctional cells. The ability to re-calibrate failing cells has advanced implications in medicine, namely in the treatment of chronic pain and inflammation. PEMFs have been used effectively for decades, repairing many conditions across numerous medical disciplines.

PEMF therapy can be used to:
  • Fuse broken bones, expedite wound healing, and reducing pain and tissue swelling
  • Promotes circulation, blood & tissue oxygenation, sleep quality, lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels
  • Balance the immune system; stimulates ribonucleic acid (RNA) and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA)
  • Accelerate bone and soft tissue repair
  • Relax muscles

Let's delve into the basics of pulse electromagnetic field therapy, and how it facilitates healthy cells in the body.

How Do PEMFs Work?

Alright, it's flashback time. We'll need you to go back to Intro to Science in secondary school, where you might recall your uncool teacher saying, 'everything is energy'.

You might also recall (but you probably won't) that energy is electromagnetic by nature. Every atom, chemical, and cell produces an electromagnetic field (EMF) - including the cells in your body. Each organ in the body differentiates from one another with their own unique cells, all carrying their own, signature bioelectromagnetic field. Every cell communicates in the body through these electromagnetic frequencies -  all 70 trillion of them. Nothing happens in the body without these electromagnetic exchanges between cells.

In other words, when the electromagnetic activity of the body ceases, it dies.

These electromagnetic fields are influential to cell's chemistry, too. In turn, tissue function is regulated by these physics, and is the cause of cell dysfunctions leading to disease. Electromagnetic energy that's disrupted in cells impairs cell metabolism, stunting production and purpose.

Cells with impaired chemistry, due to disrupted electromagnetic energy, is the cause of chronic pain conditions, as well as inflammation or an imbalanced immune system.

Magnetic therapy addresses this impaired chemistry, rebalancing a cell's makeup, and restoring functions of those cells. These rebuilt cells improve overall health, as - remember high school! - the body is comprised entirely of these little cells. So if the cells are healthy and functioning, so too is the body.

At it's most basic function, pulsed electromagnetic field therapy's job is to deliver EMFs and frequencies to the cells. Even the lowest of EMF frequencies can seamlessly travel through the body, able to pass through cell, tissue, organ, or bone with equal ease. When EMFs pass through cells, they stimulate many of the electrical and chemical processes in the body's tissue, boosting cellular health and function. Cells that're in an area of chronic pain or inflammation that're given an EMF boost can be revitalized, reducing or eliminating pain from the targeted area altogether.

The regenerative results are stunning. The magnetic fields generate so much naturally-derived energy to weakened cells, that these cells gain the remarkable ability to heal themselves. It's like turning on the 'Turbo' switch to supercharge cellular energy production. This makes for a fast, safe, and efficient form of treatment for chronic pain, broken bones, and scar tissue repair.

One of the key advantages of magnetic therapy is its flexibility in treating chronic pain anywhere in the body. The body is a complex system, with millions of different types of cells. PEMFs can be adjusted based on the treatment needed, from severe to mild; frequency, waveform, strength, and types of simulators can all be tuned on an individual basis.
